nvidia-331-uvm software package provides Transitional package for nvidia-340, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install nvidia-331-uvm
nvidia-331-uvm is installed in your system.
Make ensure the nvidia-331-uvm package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep nvidia-331-uvm *
You will get with nvidia-331-uvm package name, version, architecture and description in a table
